Teaching

I see dance lessons as a process of sharing. I try to take students to places i have already visited, and i also receive valuable information from them along the way.

The technique is as important as the creative part and i move between those two sources, always accompanied by the spirit and work philosophy from which I come.

Technique Class

Divided into two parts: barre and centre

The technique section is focused on providing the physical and emotional preparation necessary for the dancer to develop their subsequent dance performance and / or creative practice. Special attention is given to the individuality of each participant.

At its core, the class is based on a conscious approach to the various qualities ofmovement. Key elements will be present throughout the sessions, such as the use of one’s own weight, musicality, movement dynamics, the use of space and the importance of breathe. The work of the arms and torso will receive particular attention, as will the organic nature of the movements, a person dancing…

Inspired by the teachings of Jean Cebron and Fernando Suels Mendoza’s professional experience gained since training at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany.

Creative Lab

This workshop is creative in nature. Participants will receive daily themes to explore and will have space to develop their own proposals and responses. The workshop aims to develop personal compositions through constant dialogue between the participants and the facilitator.

Participants will be encouraged to investigate their own movement language, timings, arrangement in space, motivations, intentions, dynamics and curiosity. As well as the use of other elements such as words, voice, “everyday” movements.

The character of the composition remains individually inspired by the participants, rather than becoming a collective work.

The research and creative method is inspired by the experience acquired by Fernando Suels Mendoza during his years spent at Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch.
